As You Sojourn Here

One of my favorite authors actually was only a speaker, not sure that she wrote anything, it is certain that her words were written down. Sojourner Truth, she was a leader in the emancipation of women who eloquently defined what life as a woman really meant to her, and to others, in a famous speech "Ain't I a Woman?"  Why was the question even asked?  Well one can imagine you might check it out?  At any rate, one might put together something similar today and ask, "Ain't I a ..."  and you fill in the detail, you'll find it fits, because as hard as it is to believe, especially in America, we are fast becoming those who are yawning when they shouldn't be.  Please let me heartily encourage you to read Dr. James Denison's work on this subject because the fifth great awakening is happening in the world, and if you aren't careful, you're gonna miss it.  Dr. Denison has his work online at his excellent site Center for Informed Faith. One of the things that I've learned over the years is this, life as a Christian is going to be challenging, only to the degree that you allow it to be.  It is very much like an acquaintance who, you may know someone like this, is a liar, not only to others, but their own self; what they claim is to have a heart of forgiveness, what they don't understand is that you can't lie to yourself and others about your true feelings and in living that lie, be forgiving- it just doesn't happen.  Jesus will take your life and challenge that life only to the extent that you allow Him to, what He won't do is invade your ability to hold on to harshness and pride- that's your free will area of areas, and in that enormous area of "well I was certainly within my rights to do this," is where Satan will stop your witness dead in the water.  So the decision is very simple, get right with Christ about what your heart really feels, and quit lying to yourself and others about it, which is often so painful it's hard to believe, or, continue to be less as a Christian than you could be- remember, Jesus will only challenge your life to the degree that you will allow Him to.  By the way, someone who is apparently much smarter than I told me that my ideas were outlandish; they meant it as an insult, they being able to judge me, seeing as how they are, in fact, smarter than I; but what they might not realize is, outlandish to a person of my mental lack, is a compliment, not a put down as they meant it; I don't ever want to not be outlandish, in fact, I want to become more and more outlandish as I listen more and more carefully to Jesus who was considered way outlandish by the hypocritical Pharisees who really knew the law, what they forgot was how to have a forgiving heart!  So my thanks to my judge for the word- and the compliment, you bet, when it comes to Jesus, may I ever be outlandish.
