Thirds...BEYOND

So yesterday we dealt with para (2)- today-
sort of obviously, we've moved to number (3)
as promised...please take the next two minutes
to take that in...and read the scripture reference
regarding the same at the end of the points:

(1)You have the feeling that someone
perhaps that person in line there,
over there, is looking at you?
You turn, but don't see anyone
staring at you, that you can notice
it's an odd feeling isn't it?

(2)You get to the party early and
as you are being introduced around
you have the oddest sense that you
have been here, doing this very
thing; even though you know, that's
silly because this is the only time
you have ever been here?

(3)You have heard about a hundred
sermons this year, in fact, by now
you pretty much know what the preacher
is going to say, and you begin to
tune 'em out; only just then suddenly
with crystal quickness, you feel,
rather than hear, what they are
saying, and you start to cry?

Mat 9:20 And, behold, a woman, which
was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years,
came behind [him], and touched the hem of his garment:
Mat 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may

but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
Mat 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and

when he saw her, he said,
Daughter, be of good comfort;
thy faith hath made thee whole.
And the woman was made
whole from that hour.

To feel this story you have to climb

out of that box of life you've gotten
accustomesd to and realize, a woman
in this day was not to touch a man's
garment; especially a woman with an
issue of blood, a diseased person, and
a female; violated every standing law
on the books (No Doubt). So that
Jesus sensed her touching him,
He felt her, more than really was
aware of her.

Notice that in Christ there is no
legal review of the situation? To
the Master, reviewing the laws about
what she had done, apparently,
wasn't of any value? What seems
to have been important, was that
she discovered that He is indeed
every bit as powerful as it was told
about that He was. Shame we can't
get that into our hearts today,
isn't it? We all know people who are
lonely, who live in states of incomplete
love, who are stressed out, burnt out,
kicked in the teeth by life; sure, they
might not have issues of the blood,
but they have far deeper issues,
really; and what do you suppose
the Master would say to them?
If they could but touch the hem
of His garment?

Until tomorrow...let's pray
for one another.

Part Deux - BEYOND

Beyond what? Beyond this empirical, physical
limiting existence...for openers, BUT, it goes
much, much, deeper than that. For example
here is just one of the fun facts I've been
sharing with one of the folks that allows
me to- the Bible discusses meditation- says
we should, tells us who to meditate upon,
in some instances; and yet, there is not
step by step on how to? Meditate is mentioned
in scripture 14 times
(according to one reference that I trust)

and the term meditation,
the verb form of meditate, six times,
(again according to one reference that I trust)

yes if you review
those listings, and search it out yourself,
my belief is, you won't find directions for the
action, or a way, or a means to the end?
Odd wouldn't you say? It's rather like asking
a friend over for dinner, telling them it's
going to be good, getting them fired up for the
dinner, and when they ask directions, you say,
"it'll be good for you to find them out."
There is something in that, for certain,
because now we're going to connect a dot for
you, that the whole realm of spiritual interaction
with the God of creation, is indeed, deep and
deeply mysterious at levels that we would find
beyond anything our minds are capable of fathoming.

So yesterday we dealt with para (1)- today-
sort of obviously, we've moved to number (2)
as promised...please take the next two minutes
to take that in...and read the scripture reference
regarding the same at the end of the points:

(1)You have the feeling that someone
perhaps that person in line there,
over there, is looking at you?
You turn, but don't see anyone
staring at you, that you can notice
it's an odd feeling isn't it?

(2)You get to the party early and
as you are being introduced around
you have the oddest sense that you
have been here, doing this very
thing; even though you know, that's
silly because this is the only time
you have ever been here?

(3)You have heard about a hundred
sermons this year, in fact, by now
you pretty much know what the preacher
is going to say, and you begin to
tune 'em out; only just then suddenly
with crystal quickness, you feel,
rather than hear, what they are
saying, and you start to cry?

(4)You see the trees everyday, but
on this morning, the greens seem
somehow more brilliant? The blue
of the sky seems more intense,
the clouds are wispy and brilliant
white, and you smile, for no
particular reason, you smile.

(5)The food has never tasted better,
and as the meal progresses you
find yourself hauled into actually
feeling the food, rather than just
eating the meal?

What do all of these things have
to do with the Bible? Oh, we're
gonna get there, next couple of days,
but for now let's whet your whistle
with this one...and now for (2):

What is the inner sense of things that
you and others share? Can it be connected
to your soulfulness? Have you ever met
someone that you felt akin to without
having any explanation for that connection?
In the same way, ever meet someone that
you simply couldn't get your heart into
no matter what, but you couldn't explain
why? They made you feel less than friendly
and yet you had no reason not to dislike them,
and let's take that one step further,
later on, did it turn out you were right?
Herein lies the mystery in the Bible:

Mat 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Mat 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
Mat 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Mat 11:14 And if ye will receive [it], this is Elias, which was for to come.

----And---one other - there are many, by the way...

2Cr 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
2Cr 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
2Cr 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
2Cr 12:5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

Ok - there are plenty of others, but those two
ought to give you pause that indeed the Bible does
contain some deeply relational material, as to
the soulfulness of you. You may not fully get
it- but what is important is that you read it,
and think about it...oh my, would that be
meditating? What's that you ask "why doesn't
the Bible tell me about this meditation?" My
only suggestion is to consider that the
picture that you are being given is a very
big one...think on it a while, maybe even
ask the Lord Himself about it, and listen,
really, quietly, reverently, listen, to His
response to you. Until tomorrow...let's pray
for one another.

with this one...(1) - read it
once more very quickly, and then
take in this from the New Testament:

Hbr 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers:
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

So number one is the experience that science
hasn't been able to define, science does not
like the term instinct, or, even, a sort of
third eye sense of presence; but we who
function in the spiritual know that such
is real. Paul who it seems to me was the
preacher of the sermons gathered as the book
of Hebrews noted this.

We will go on to para (2) and the others
as we progress, taking off on that tomorrow,
but now you know, you can share with your
friends, if they've had that experience of
feeling like someone was watching them,
according to Paul, it's entirely possible
isn't it?

This is my body

There aren't many times that scripture seems
crystal clear, usually we deem it possible
to get more than one meaning out of it.

Certainly that would seem to be the case here?

Mat 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed [it], and brake [it], and gave [it] to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.>br>
Mar 14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake [it], and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

Luk 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1Cr 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

It is an almost perfectly quiet event,
it would seem to me, what we commonly
refer to as, the last supper. That
isn't actually what was taking place
at all, Jesus was proving Himself the
Passover Lamb, the sacrifice. That
is certainly one reason for the event,
and certainly one reason why His
ministry may not have been three
years long. If you aren't familiar
with the practice of the sacrificial
Lamb in Jewish life back then,
please ask me, I'll get back with
you one on one
and do my very best to make it
make sense, although with a
subject as heavy as that one,
it'll be a challenge.

For today let's put it this way-
Jesus was predicting an event
that hadn't yet happened. He
hadn't been arrested, He hadn't
been tried and found guilty,
He hadn't been placed into a
borrowed tomb, to rise again,
His blood having now become
our Lamb! None of that had
happened, yet. So this saying
is intensely and majestically,
one of the oddest of all time.

Let me give you at least one hint
here- it's quite possible that
Jesus was explaining how powerful
the presence of our physical self
is, when it comes to the reality
of walking with God? Until we meet
tomorrow let's pray for each other.

Follow - And- Lead

Yesterdays entry caught some people up short
because they aren't used to someone being
so blunt. That is true, here is something else
that is true- the damage to love that ruthless
evil has done, is pretty blunt, isn't it?

One of the very real problems in this war
is just understanding how it is to be fought.
We want to fight it in a way that makes sense
to us, only problem with that is, such a means
doesn't accomplish what you want, it has
the exact opposite effect. Want to know
why so many churches are struggling
it is this very thing- this reverse role of the
warfare of the spirit- we don't win this war
with means that make sense to us.

Because of that, you feel powerless in
this fight; and that is the supreme paradox
of trust and relationship to God, letting go
and letting God. Sounds easy, turns out
to be very hard. One kind gesture, one
kind moment, one simple essence of
taking yourself off the center of the life
and considering the other person. It
does make a difference, they do notice
it, it does matter. Yes it gets to the point
sometimes that you do wonder if such is
true, but you can believe, on the life
of the one who gave that life up, that
it is true- He didn't back down, when
they told Him, "If you're gonna keep
on tellin' us you're God- we're gonna
have to silence you." He knew then,
the road to the cross he was asking you
to take part in- do so with GLEE!

Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great
[is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted
they the prophets which were before you

You Want To Read This One

Do you ever find yourself wondering
why it is that there is so little
love in the world? Given that we
know that Jesus is the most
remarkable of all teachers, ever-
do you ever find yourself
wondering, why is there so
little love in the world?

Sure, the easy thing to do is
now to go into some silly diatribe
that you've gotten used to-
it's the usual response of what
we call faith; following Jesus,
when somebody asks a question
we aren't particularly comfortable
answering; we shut down the messenger.

The messenger gets used to this,
and so they limit the amount of
material that they will spew to
a basic twenty minute speech-
because my contention is that
most of the sermons now preached
in what we loosely call the United
States of America, intend nothing,
and accomplish what they intend.

Sounds cynical- but; uh, when we
go back to that basic question-
my sense is, it's not cynical
at all, it is pragmatic. Jesus
was nothing, if He wasn't supremely
pragmatic, the all time realist.

Don't see Him that way- aw c'mon
what do you think he meant about
a person who'd waste their time
putting together a mansion
built on sand? To a lawyer
who wanted to play twenty
questions, our Jesus cut the
number down to two- Love God-
Love your neighbor as yourself.

Now let's get back to what we
can do about love in the world-
and this next statement is meant
to shock you; let's see if you
are not anesthetized to the point
that it doesn't- one response that
will work, is not prayer. If
you added up the sheer weight
of prayers prayed about love in
the world- they'd move the Earth
out of orbit- and still, love
is nearly gone out of this world.

You want answers as does any
reasonable person, so my first
suggestion is going to be-
come back for another dose
tomorrow, but today, try loving
somebody by letting them know
they matter to you, and you
love them. Gotta start somewhere...

It Isn't About Why!

Suppose you're there- you're watching him...
it's early dawn...you're up, the others aren't;
it's quiet- the hills that are dry and hot and
sweltering in a few hours, they're dew misted
right now, but it's already warming up.

The sun has just cleared the rise and
you see him. A lone figure, kneeling on
the ground, he looks tired, even from this
distance, you can tell his shoulders are
shaking, and you know, you just know
he's weeping, and you know that like on
so many other days; you'd love to ask
him"why", but you probably won't.

Then he looks your way, and the look in his eyes
nails your soul, and you know, the man
who is the only man besides your father
that you have ever loved, loves you.

It shakes you down, and your heart which
had jumped a bit at his gaze, now settles
back, and your mind knows, you can't do
a thing about how you feel- you know that
what he has been praying is what he told
you he would; he said it goes like this:

My Image"Our father..."

Now it's several thousand years later,
you are peering over the edge of heaven
and what you'd like to tell the person
reading this is...

You see, the gaze of love never changes,
does it?

So now what

In chess it's called, taken "en passant," and it means that one pawn takes the other for refusing to fight- so in chess, you either fight, or, if the situation is right, you get taken; you lose. Now the interesting part of that rule is that circumstances have to be just so-so. What scares me about life, and especially about the Christian life, is that many of those who claim they love Jesus are being taken out, "en passant," for refusing to fight. Yet that's not the only comparable situation between life and chess and Christianity- "oh," you ask, "you mean there are more?" It might just be...

When you reach a certain point in the game, it becomes impossible for either party to win, this is called, a draw. This is Satan's favorite ploy- C.S. Lewis, whom I did much of my background study for a Th.D. about; wrote an amazing book called "The Screwtape Letters". In this work "Screwtape (along with his trusted scribe Toadpipe) holds an administrative post in the bureaucracy ("Lowerarchy") of Hell, and acts more as a mentor than a supervisor to Wormwood, the inexperienced tempter; almost every letter ends with the signature, "Your affectionate uncle, Screwtape." In the body of the thirty-one letters which make up the book, Screwtape gives Wormwood detailed advice on various methods of undermining faith and promoting sin in his Patient, interspersed with observations on human nature and Christian doctrine."
In a draw- neither side wins- it is, however, a fight, and since it cannot be won, it continues on- as in the chess game, the players can often agree to play again. So it is in Satan's favorite ploy amidst Christian's- "let's get them to fight each other, that way, they certainly won't be fighting us." In order to accomplish this Satan uses his best tactic- our egotistical sense of self.

It is interesting, isn't it, that the first thing that we really see in the training of the disciples, is Jesus saying that if they are going to follow him they are going to have to learn to, deny themself. Jesus in the Aramaic Bible put it this way: 16:24. Then Jesus said to his disciples,
"Whoever wishes to follow me,
...curse your being and pick up your cross and follow me.

You may be used to hearing put this way: Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

They are very closely aligned, which tells me the translation is relatively accurate- Matthew I believe was there with Christ, physically when He said this. It's one of the fundamental precepts upon which all discipleship of Christ rests, so it makes a sort of bizarre sense that Satan would choose to attack a Christian at precisely this point, what about you, does he try to get at you, here?

Make Sense Will You

One of the strangest experiences we get to participate in, is when somebody begins to think outside the box. Two things usually happen right away, first, their friends want to put them back inside the box. Now before you say how bad that is, stop and consider how hard it is on friends when someone they love goes nuts? That's right I said nuts, because you realize that as you get farther and farther outside the box, you will appear to be losing touch with reality, which is...wait for it, the box. The second thing that happens is the friends, who are now saddened by the persons loss of sense, will begin to try and manipulate them back inside the box. So when an emotional plea to reason doesn't help, switch to manipulation. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Now remember, if you are the one thinking outside the box, you have caused all this difficulty for your friends, haven't you? Now as you are mulling this over in your mind, I want you to read the following statement and understand what it means: "Gen 12:4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram [was] seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran." Abram was the first, perhaps, to get outside the box, really outside the box, and begin to see, that the one who was talking with him, wasn't him. He wasn't delusional, the creator God, the one who makes everything that is made; He was telling Abram to do a deed. Abram was listening, nobody else would. Abram appeard to be crazy, but notice also what happens, not everybody turns against Abram- and in fact, if you believe that his neighbors living in Haran said, "Abram, good decision, yeah, your right, we always hear that voice as well, sure, sure, it's in our heads too. Yes, yes, we agree with you, Go, good concept, take off, leave everything, it'll work," maybe your getting outside the box, yourself? Think that's what they said? So the next time your friends begin to start in on you about how you are going about doing what you are doing, if it's outside the box, perhaps it won't mean as much to you, but if it hasn't been outside the box, have you been listening? Because my real question here is, why would God want the same old box all the time, that's hardly creative is it, and He is, after all, isn't He, creator God? Leave a comment so we can begin to generate an idea about how this box ought to look, hey?

What we give up

Sometimes we give up, what we can't hold on to, but we wished we could. Think on how this great writer, may not have known how his greatness would explode onto the screen so many years later Great Writer. Now as you dwell on what you just saw, having clicked that, it raises the question, "Well fine but who is he?" Truth is...he was responsible for the blockbuster movie Wow so that's it.

Yup- and the question is, when does that happen? "You mean, total recall?" - yup.

Let's see how it plays out...be sure to comment, we are hoping to have some great free gifts for the crew, here in just a few...

Better and Better

This is a transpost, which may not mean a whole lot to you, but it is being written from my browser, not a special program. The browser for the internet, called iGoogle, is a trademarked device that interacts with all my messenger services for social media, all at one time. This makes it possible for me to post this blog wherever I can access a computer and an internet connection. This is one of the advances that are now part of what is called Web 2.0, which is changing the world. The world as you knew it is changed forever, you can believe that, just as you can believe that there are now several forms of cancer which are cured, there is sight being restored to those who are blind via mechanisms of technology, and hearing is being restored. Limbs which are prosthetic are intelligent and capable of interacting with the user. It is an age unlike anything that has existed ever, and you are here to see it. Now tell me once again that you don't think there is anything to creator God? How can people see the world that is coming and in fact is here as we speak, and not be cognizant of the fact that it isn't just a matter of any cosmic chance whatsoever. God is in this world making things happen. By faith I look as did the believers of old that are spoken of in Hebrews in the New Testament: Hebrews 11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
