Royalty - Oh My it appears...you are indeed...Royalty

Image
Watching this massive movie, " The Kings Speech ," only Click here to movie database served to remind me of so much that I take for granted, which this great man could not.  My wife has always loved the Royal's, and, I've always thought she was silly for carrying on about them.  Now, as has become my custom this last decade, yet another heaping helping of "Crow."  One can only hope it's not an insult to an otherwise noble bird. You on the other hand, shall not get off so easily, as it appears that the words of this King, no not George the VI'th, but the King, Jesus, of Nazareth, shall call you to a duty that is in line with what the King called his noble subjects of England into when resisting the Hitler move to encompass the world in a nightmare of his creation. This great movie of the struggles of one who was very challenged to speak in public, who stammered, is yet another reminder of how powerfully we are set into motion by...

What Do You Do

Image
The question gets asked often, as much as any other, that's for sure, and it's not unusual because we seem to believe that what a person does for a living is a large part of who they are?  Now you know me well enough to see ahead and know that I don't go that way in my thinking, even though I know on the surface such is true, when you dig beneath that surface appearance a bit, there is where you see what is real. Just this past Sunday a man stopped me in the hall and asked me, "hey I sit in class you with and you seem to be a pretty smart person, but what is it that you do, because it seems like folks really listen to you?" Well, he asked, so I told him. Hmm, wonder what he thought of that? For example, my friend Chris Voss who does " The Chris Voss ," show, seems on the surface to be a free-wheelin', fun lovin', let it roll, sort of guy.  But that's Chris's public persona, and here is what a little study of Chris re...

Melissa and Joey Say Something To Us

Image
What is the show Melissa and Joey about?  Did you watch the opening of the show?  Have you seen this ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2jUPjQ6Ml4 The idea is an interesting and upbeat one. Obviously the concept of a single family change is a tough one, and obviously the Bible says some pretty profound things about the family unit; (most of which have not been brought to light - guess why?) but it seems that ABC is taking an interest in trying to get some ideas about the family out there. What do you think about this? Just the fact that a network is trying something like this says something pretty intense to our culture. It's a comedy, that's a friendly format for ideas, if they work, everyone laughs, if they don't then you have the option of saying, "it's a comedy get over it," it's win-win broadcasting at its best. But is it possibly something else? Is it possible that while media often pushes the latest BUZZ of the masses at ...

Social Media - and the Bible? Are You Serious? Proverbs ...wisdom...

If you've ever walked down an alley late at night, and realized about halfway down that alley, that you were in a rough part of the town, and, alone, and it was late- you realize just how quickly safety can become much more of an issue than we'd like to believe.  If you've ever been driving along in your car and suddenly it gets bumpy and the steering gets funky-and you have to pull over- and you realize, it's a bad place to be - you realize quickly how safety can become much more of an issue than we believe. If you've ever been in an open forum discussing points of view and your point of view is not the one everybody else is sharing- wow wee, do you ever realize, quickly, how safety is an issue.  In your virtual life, on Facebook, or Twitter, or MySpace (practically dead as a social media tool now, from what I hear?) or on your cell phone with APPS (which is becoming much more popular amongst young folks or so I hear?) or YouTube- can your s...

The Lazy Christian?

Image
There are a few things that make sense given our current climate of faith - and especially among those who like to believe they are evangelical Christian's; a rough house form of fundamental Christian known for being active and actively outspoken about Christ. Like those who write in and say how much they enjoy this writing and reasoning and want to share it with their friends, or even send me an email to send it to- which is you, isn't it? It makes sense that they would share their faith, somehow? That just makes sense, if we're going to proclaim the faith, then it ought to be that we would be sharing that with others?  Another thing that is known, and would seem to make sense, we take a stand, when something is obviously way out of line with what we believe , we take a stand. Don't we take that stand, now and again? And most fundamental Christian's have seen times when such became necessary.  So one thing that doesn't make sense is what Jim Rohn...
