Remembering is an art, really; because a person can recall certain aspects of their life, much better than others; and, some folks can remember much further back into their lives, than others, but the problem there becomes, are you remembering the reality or the impression? Research done at U.C.L.A. and in other institutions has shown that memory and reality can get into a fantasy state where what really occurred is remembered in a different way. We have all known this, we call it, "mom (or dad) is getting so forgetful." What is probably taking place may be a tremendous blessing; hidden in the normal pattern of our lives- almost all the ill will which my teen years managed to generate, has been forgotten- or distorted, so that all that remains is actually good will. NOW- some would say that's a lie- but the reality is, it is, what my mind remembers- so it is what I honor of my past. Business deals where unscrupulous people took advantage of me are now, forgotten, they mean nothing; why- because they can't be changed- those times when I was less than honorable to my Jesus, aren't a part of my present guilt, why, because they can't be changed. Jesus very clearly taught to live in the present, and that's what my mind has adjusted to; so all the wasted energy of ill will is basically replaced by an ever expanding search for good will, for kindness, for love. My prayer for you this day is that you will realize how much you are loved. Jesus said that when we opened our hearts to become blessings to others that our Heavenly Father would find a way to pour blessings into our hearts, that they would be so dominant that they would be like measures of wheat, pressed down until they are overflowing their container! If you've ever watched wheat being pressed into a measure you know that is exactly what it does, it bounces up as the hand pressing it is lifted! Because of you in my life, my life is blessed, you bless me, you are the hand that measures down the blessing and then as you lift that hand away; letting the love flow, what can happen for me except to bound back up? That blessing is prayed back to you, that our God would press it down for you, until your measure is goodness overflowing!
Give, and it shall be given unto you; goodmeasure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
