Your Power

Many years ago, when I was still a teenager, but in the military,

I'd not fully converted to Christ in the sense of not getting so

drunk I couldn't see straight. Once while on assignment in Minot

North Dakota we had a particularly tough funeral to do, all the

honor guard duties were emotionally a rough deal, but this one

was particularly so, the family had been very close knit, as such

they were all present with the extremely grief stricken mother.

On the night before the funeral the sergeant in charge of the detail

had shown us what good whiskey could do for a snowy climate and

icy footing. The hangover the next day was gruesome, each step

was a mammoth and loud quake; so, when the hundred or so B-52's

cranked up their engines that morning, can you understand why I'd

say to the sarge, "take 'im out that coffin, I wanna go , let me just die."

Imagine that(!) arrogance, that dumb kid actions and thinking, wow-

yet, one thing I still remember to this day, the ground roared from

the power of those jets, I can't imagine what it was like when the

whole city of Jerusalem shook in the darkness around the cross!

Then my thoughts turn to you, and you bring a smile to my lips as

nobody else can, you see, in all the universe, you are the most supremely

empowered of all, Jesus trusts you, He loves you, and He builds this

magnificent empire of love upon your heart, because of His heart - when

our hearts touch, your power begins to glow with a force that is awe

inspiring. That is what you are, awe inspiring, you see, your power-

is what Jesus was soberly explaining when He said:

Jhn 14:12

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the worksthat I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father

World shaking power, that's what He gave you, and when He gave

you that power He did it because of your heart, so today, let your

heart reach out to someone you love, and let them know it. What's

that you say, you don't think you are really that powerful? Hmm,

you can flick on a light switch and turn on light? You can pick up

a cell phone, and call somebody while mobile? You can take a pill

to end the pain? You can take a vitamin to increase your health?

"Yes," but you humbly insist, "I didn't invent those things Dana."

Sure you did, it was your joy that God had in mind when He inspired

the inventors to get them created! Now tell me you don't have power!

Hey, God does listen to your prayers, so, you might mention to Him

talk about power, huh?
