1Cr 1:27 — But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
The word does not mean, what we think it means, at all; little wonder music, which speaks to the soul, honors this word. Confound in this passage and others means at least in one sense to "blush them to shame," which is what is, unfortunately, going to happen to some.
