October Run - Better

The October challenge, find amazing parts of theology and
then each day bring one paragraph to you the reader about that
.
We want better, we would really love best, but we know
best is sometimes really hard to get, so we settle
for better. A better car, a better meal, a better
deal, a better time. Not the best meal, car,
deal, or time, just better. Now from a standpoint
that considers God and thinking about God and the
end of time, eschatology, we have to ask ourselves
this question; is best what God intended or is
better what God intended? The answer may surprise
you. First you might have gone into the bit about
God wanting His family to have the best. That
sounds logical, doesn't it, and it would seem
to fit with His general character. Better, on
the other hand, is all around us, so in some
sense, better must be a part of that? What
happens when it isn't best but it will work?
Lots of people living right there, they aren't
in the best, but they have it better, and better
seems to do? Does God want you to have something
that will do? Now let's tie into this what
we believe faith is? Let's use the standard
Bible based definition of faith:
Hbr 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Put them together and use your mind, it becomes
very clear that God wouldn't want you to
have anything that wasn't the best - why
would you hope for something that wasn't the
best? Ah, and now we hit it, didn't we? It
doesn't have to do with God, it has to do
with us, we settle, we are the ones who say,
"God I'm lonely, please hear my prayer and
provide someone for my heart." We are then
putting our God in the position of either
working with our request for a settled
situation, instead of, the best; imagine
David saying "I know she is beautiful but
she is someone elses wife...God I'd love
a woman of my very own just like that." Or
words to that effect, imagine what might
have changed? We settle, God on the other
hand, what happens with God? Well, since
this has to do with the last time things,
what do you think happens? Until tomorrow
let's pray for the ones we love...
Deu 32:20 And he said, I will hide my face
from them, I will see what their end
[shall be]: for they [are] a very
froward generation, children in whom
[is] no faith.
Luk 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge
them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son
of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
