Now, folks don't normally think that our lives as Christians, it could contain miracles within them. We just, we don't objectively, or subjectively consider; that it's not part of our normal way of thinking.
We think and go through life as; this, I have to do today. These are the things I have to do.
This is what's going to go on. We almost never begin our day by asking God, what would you have me do today? That's just not our lifestyle, certainly not in America, in 2025. Our lifestyle is, get it, get it done, and if you're a young man, it's get it, get success, get more and really, is there anything wrong with that?
Because, you know, have we got our priorities upside down? I don't know, have we got our priorities inverted?
I don't know, I wrote a book called inverted culture and how to happily survive in it. My friend was a best selling author Dr. Stephen Covey, who wrote the 7 habits of an effective leader?
I just, you know, I thought the book would really take off and sell.
It has not had many people read it, and those who did read it said, well, it was pretty good. In fact, my daughter said "It took me about 45 minutes to read it dad, and it sounded like you talking," and I said, "Well, cool, that's the effect I was after," but I talk about Dr.
Deming, who massively developed the idea of quality in performance; and I talk about Dr. Covey and his 7 habits, and then we bring into the thing Dr. Shuler, Robert Shuler and his theory "Peek to Peak.
A theory on success or outlook about living successfully, which is Peek, take a look, peek, to peak.
Success, it's amazing, okay, amazing, but here's the thing, all of that energy in and all of that exuberance, and all of that spontaneity, one of the the principal elements of walking with Christ can fly right by us. Especially if you're a young person, male or female in pursuit of success in America. You may find yourself being driven by house notes that are too large; car notes that are too large; expenses and bills that eat up and consume your time. So no, we don't begin our day by asking God "What would you have me do today?" Because our lives are not arranged that way?
Question is; is that an incorrect approach to living? I'm going to say that, if you look at the life of Paul, the answer is no. Paul was a tent maker. In his writings, he talks about being a tent maker. In his many things that he says about being an Apostle to the churches, one of the things that he says is; I supported my own ministry through my own works.
So evidently; there is something about being successful, operating in success, and being a Christian that, as we recertify, we certify as being born again, it's binding kind of a documented process of being a Christian that we have a testimony that certifies it, we're Christian that we recertify, that our conduct is along the lines of those things which Christ himself has commanded us to do; love one another.
Understand the beatitudes, understand Him, love Him, but as we love Him love each other. "This command I give you a new command that you love one another." That's not easy and so recertifying, has a lot to do with loving your disciples in bringing them back to Jesus.
